| Using Creative Ideas to Share Your Faith
By Rev. Tina K. Platt
Have you ever met someone who was turned off by the idea of God's true existence and His divine plan for man, simply because of the confusion that centers around the numerous religions that have come into effect today? Well, this article gives way to creative ideas on how to effectively share your faith.
Let's begin by examining Proverbs 11:30 which states the following...
"The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise."
Now to properly diagnose this Scripture in its correct spiritual translation, there are several spiritual key points to take into consideration, and the outlined explanations of these points are listed below. For example...
First, we must consider the true origin and purpose behind the Bible, which is the true inspired written Word of God that according to 2 Timothy 3:16, 17... is hereby given to mankind in the following manner and for the following purpose...
2 Timothy 3:16, 17 (16) "All Scripture, is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness." (17) "That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works."
Notice that the passage from Apostle Paul's letter to Timothy above strategically informs us that the written Word of God is in fact, inspired by God Himself... Who alone, also gives the spiritual understanding of His Word to those who have a heart and desire to know His divine will and purpose for their lives, which can be drawn from the phrase "man of God" in verse 17 above.
Secondly, we must consider the fact that since man was made by God, for God's own good pleasure, and in God's own image and likeness, which is duly denoted in Genesis 1:26, 27... It is not God's will that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance, which is also confirmed in 2 Peter 3:9.
Therefore, the Lord commissions and sends forth His beloved believers and disciples to teach people in every nation, His unadulterated Gospel for this reason, whereby in the following Scriptural passages He said...
Matthew 28:19, 20 (19) "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:" (20) "Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen."
A valid point that I want to mention here that a majority of the people, including both believers and non-believers, tend to overlook, is that when the Lord Jesus Christ made the above statement in Matthew 28:19, He had not yet been crucified and therefore, He was alluding to the spiritual roles or offices in which He, being the eternal God Creator, revealed Himself to man! Why? Because the God- man, Christ Jesus had not yet accomplished what He came to earth to accomplish at this point in time, which was to lay down His own life on Calvary's cross for the redemption and remission of mankind's sins. (Notice the following Scripture that is a true fulfillment of Matthew 28:19.)
Acts 2:38 (38 ) "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the Name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."
Now technically speaking, Matthew 28:19 and Acts 2:38 are the same identical Scripture and the only slight difference is, that the verse in Matthew was given by Christ "before" His crucifixion, and the verse in Acts was given "after" Christ's death, burial, and resurrection. Thus, the Bible teaches us in Acts 4:10 - 12...
Acts 4:10 - 12 (10) "Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, Whom God raised from the dead, even by Him doth this man stand here before you whole." (11) "This was the Stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the Head of the corner."
(12) "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other Name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved!"
Now putting all of this information together, the third key point that one must take into consideration then, concerning the "Great Commission" given to believers by Christ, is that the written Word of God - (the Bible) - comes in three unique translations which are these:
Literal - These verses mean exactly what they say.
Symbolic - The spiritual truth is contained within the "symbols" of the Scriptural passages and...
Prophetic - Passages that also contain many spiritual "symbols" that warn us about impending danger or coming events.
Thus, when we couple together Christ's "Great Commission" that He has given to the Church, along with our initial Scripture from Proverbs 11:30 which again states... "The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and he that winneth souls is wise," we can begin to understand that in a world of chaos where many have been deceived by the antichrist and his "false prophets"... that a believer that is living in this perverse and wicked end-time generation, must indeed be "wise" in the way he or she goes about "winning" souls!
So in my conclusion, I want to share with you some of the ways in which the Lord has laid it upon my heart, as to how His disciples today can accomplish the task of "winning souls" for the up building of the divine kingdom of God, and the first example I want to give is this:
Since most people share inherent human emotions, feelings, and logic that is well-known to mankind through our natural senses including, sight, touch, hearing, taste, and smell... some of the ways that you can be creative or "wise" in sharing your faith, is through the following examples in which I use myself and have found through first-hand experience, work quite well! Notice:
A "Hearing" Example: Always be on the lookout for an opportunity to share your faith by carefully "listening" to what others have to say about what is currently going on in their own life. For example, if you are talking with someone who has expressed to you through conversation that they feel hopeless, helpless, or frustrated with their life the way it is today, you might interject or share a personal "testimony" that tells how the Lord has blessed you to overcome, in perhaps similar circumstances.
A "Sight" Example: If you are a true believer in the "uncompromised" Word of God, always make sure that you remember who you really are in Christ, and that you are commissioned by Him to set a "living example" through your lifestyle... not just in Church, but outside of the House of God, in every area of your personal life. That way, when unbelievers "look" upon your lifestyle and are able to "see" how you perhaps are able to have inner peace, no matter what else may be falling apart around you, whether it be on your job, in your home, or otherwise... those that have concluded that chaos is supposed to be a part of life, will take notice of how you are still able to be happy and most of the time, they will be drawn by your "unusual" contentment that may lead to a conversation that will give way to "planting seeds" for the kingdom of God.
A "Taste" Example: The old adage says that, "the way to a man's heart is through his stomach." As silly as that may sound, if we really think about it, everyone has to "eat" to live... and that rule of thumb applies to both the "natural" and the "spiritual" components of man's composition! Therefore, another unique way that a believer can go about "winning souls", is by inviting someone to dinner, and while the both of you are relaxing, enjoying your meal, and having a good time... look for an opportunity to introduce a spiritual topic.
A "Smell" Example: Although this example is abstract, it could work in several different ways. But in one instance, there are a lot of fragrances such as perfumes and colognes on the market today that have spiritual connotations, like "Eternity" and "Heaven". By wearing these attractive scents, if someone were to ask you the name of the fragrance you were wearing, you could "plant a seed" by simply stating the name of the perfume. Keep in mind here, that one of the reasons why some "unbelievers" are uncomfortable around "believers", is because we who believe are a constant reminder to those who do not believe, that there is in fact an "after life" and a living God Who will rightfully judge all! So the idea here, is to simply give the "unbeliever" a quick memory jolt in the right direction.
A "Touch" Example: To inspire faith on a more long-term basis, I find that it is not only useful, but "creatively" effective to give a spiritual "gift" such as a piece of jewelry or home decor that has a Christian theme or Scripture message attached to it because on one hand, everyone likes "gifts", especially if they didn't have to pay for them their self, and on the other hand, a spiritual "gift" will always remind the recipient of where the "gift" came from, along with the spiritual message that will inspire their faith as long as he or she "holds" the item in their possession. And this works for "unbelievers" and "believers" alike.
